Spring Cleaning in 5 Easy Steps

The first day of spring has passed and It’s time to whip your place into shape. Here are 5 things you can do to refresh and re-new!

1) Declutter your shelves

We all wipe down, dust, and clean our shelves and counter tops. But have you decluttered? Keep those special objects but get rid of the rest. Interested in creating a new look? No matter what your style we have the perfect accessories for you. So go ahead and gift or donate the old!

2) Give your area rugs a little TLC

Winter can be really hard on your area rugs. We recommend rolling up your rugs, taking a mop or Swiffer and tackle all the dirt on the floors underneath. Once that is done give your rugs a good deep cleaning. Use a carpet service and always follow proper cleaning instructions.

3) Change out your heavier fabrics and textiles for lighter ones

Switch out your heavy wool, flannel, faux fur, and velvet soft goods—such as pillows, sheets, blankets and throws, for lightweight cotton and linen versions. These natural fiber, breathable fabrics can effortlessly refresh your space and take you seamlessly into summer.

4) Rearrange / create a new floor plan

Rearranging your furniture is easy and doesn’t cost a thing except for a little elbow grease. Just moving a few key pieces around can make a big difference in your space and how you feel about it. Tip: try moving accessories, small furniture and rugs to other rooms. But we warn you, rearranging can be very addictive once you start to see and feel the results :) Before you know it you will be moving onto other rooms, and that will lead you to…

5) Spruce up your outdoor space

Once spring has sprung, hit your patio or deck and get your hands dirty in your garden beds and pots (or bring your favorite landscaper back!). Remove dead leaves and plants to get things growing again.

Once things are cleaned up, set up your patio or deck with new outdoor furniture. Make sure it is designed for the outdoors with weatherproofing and Sunbrella fabrics. Don’t need new furniture? Trying changing up your seat cushions with bold fresh colors to liven up your whole space.
