Revitalize Your Guest Room

Now that we are deep into the holiday season it might be a good time to start thinking about your guest room. Maybe you already had family over for Thanksgiving and now you need to spruce it up for Christmas. Or maybe you are hosting a holiday party this year and need to make your guest room presentable to your out of town friends. Either way you know you don’t want them sleeping uncomfortably on your sofa in the living room. Although we do have a solution for that as well in the form of comfortable sleeper sofas :)

Following are a few simple things you can do to get your guest room ready for…. guests!

Your Mattress is the center of everything so make sure you have something of quality for your guests to sleep on. Quality doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. See some of our great options from Sealy and Stearns & Foster Here but you’re going to want to come in and talk with one of our sleep specialists to find the right mattress for your needs.

Fresh Linens are a must when hosting guests for the night. You can never go wrong with a set of quality sheets to impress. Comfortable pillows will also be appreciated.

Clear a Space – its always a good idea to keep your dresser, counter, and all surfaces free of knick knacks. If possible, try not to fill the closet with out-of-season clothes (leave some room for your guest to hang things). And finally have a luggage rack or small table for your guests to put their suitcase on.

A Place to Sit is sometimes overlooked but very important for comfort. A simple arm chair or side chair with a small drink table will go along way.

Good Lighting is always important. Make sure you have nice bright overhead lighting as well as warm soft reading lamps available. It’s also a good idea to have a plug in socket night light so your guests can see in the dark (in the room or in the hallway).

A Nightstand or small bedside table to place a glass of water, glasses, jewelry, etc. Be sure to have a coaster or something so you don’t damage the finish!

A Vase of Fresh Flowers is always welcoming and makes a thoughtful impression.

A Scented Candle or room diffuser is a nice touch any time of year (we have a nice selection for you to choose from).

Basics. A few small things that are important but often get over looked. Make sure you have these things available for your guests to make their stay more enjoyable and comfortable.

  • Lighted alarm clock / radio
  • Paper and pens
  • Tissues
  • Fresh towels
  • Extra toothbrush and toiletries
  • Hairdryer
  • Iron & Ironing board available
  • Door or wall hooks to hang clothes
  • Clothes hangers in closet

Finally Providing Privacy is one of the most important things you can do for your guests. Even if they are family, a nice private room will put them at ease. Always have window coverings or blinds on the windows and make sure the door closes properly.

Happy Hosting!
