From Pantone’s color of the year to artisan accessories on your shelves, Oskar Huber has the latest design tips to keep you on trend! Remember, just because it’s winter doesn’t mean your only choices are blues and whites :)
“Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for Living Coral. With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial PANTONE Living Coral hit a responsive chord”
– Leatice Eiseman (Executive Director of The Pantone Color Institute)
Sociable and spited, the engaging nature of Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Of course this fun and optimistic color will play especially well with our coastal designs!
Industrial design has been around for a while but look for it to have a strong presence in 2019. When we think of industrial it’s easy to think of cold spaces but the fact is the trend can be very warm and inviting. Take for instance this industrial console table. Although distressed metal and wood are used, when paired with warm fabrics or leather it can create a warm inviting space.
Live Edge Continues to Trend
Live Edge Design is a style of furniture where the furniture designer or craftsperson incorporates the natural edge of the wood into the design of the piece. Live edge furniture often incorporates types of wood that would not be used in conventional woodworking. There are special challenges involved in working with this type of wood, and several methods for live edge have developed.
Live Edge wood is milled differently as it is carefully handled to maintain its natural rustic line. This is a delicate process that takes the patience of skilled and creative professional workers and artisans. Check out our previous blog on live edge design here.
One of the most creative ways to display your artwork is Gallery Style. As seen here in one of our in-home design projects. Notice how the items and art on the wall don’t necessarily match. However they do pull together beautifully when grouped. More from this beautiful home here.
Artisan (noun) A worker in a skilled trade, especially one that involves making things by hand.
